The Dave Larson scholarship is a privately funded scholarship program that was established in honor of David M. Larson, a former regent and Cargill executive of the University of Minnesota. The scholarship aims to assist students from middle-class families in achieving their career aspirations without being burdened by college debt.
The scholarship is need-based and specifically targets students who come from middle-class families. Middle-class students often receive limited financial support in obtaining a quality education, and the Dave Larson Scholarship aims to bridge that gap.
The scholarship is an excellent opportunity for students who possess strong leadership potential, as it does not require outstanding academic records. This gives every applicant a fair chance to clinch this scholarship without worrying too much about giving an overwhelming impression of academic capacity.
Scholarship amount
The Dave Larson scholarship initially gifted awards to different students totaling over $5miilion. Since then, it annually provides 200 Minnesota residents with $5,000 to $6,000 each year to attend the University of Minnesota.
The Dave Larson Scholarship awards up to $21,500 over four years to its recipients. This scholarship covers academic expenses during the period of college education.
