This article will delve into all the information you should know about the Stamps Scholars Program. We will address its requirements, benefits, and application process. That said, let’s dig deeper into this scholarship.

What is the Stamp Scholarship?

The Stamps Scholars Program was founded by E. Roe Stamps and his late wife Penny in 2006 through the Stamps Family Charitable Foundation The goal of this scholarship is to provide exceptional students with the opportunity to experience extraordinary educational opportunities through partnerships with institutions across the nation (and into the U.K.).

The Stamps scholarship is a merit-based award given to students based on their academic excellence. It is noteworthy that the first stamp scholarship was given to students at the University of Michigan and Georgia Tech, which are the alma maters of the founders of this scholarship.

Since then, the program keeps expanding its reach in getting more prestigious partner schools. In 2009, The University of Miami was added. In 2010, Barry University, the California Institute of Technology, the University of Florida, the University of Illinois, and the University of Virginia were included as well.

The program has since grown to 36 more schools across the country with more than 2,600 current and alumni Stamps Scholars.

Stamps Scholars have further earned recognition for their outstanding achievements through a variety of other esteemed awards. This includes awards like Rhodes, Fulbright, Goldwater, Marshall, Beinecke, and National Science Foundation scholarships.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Stamp Scholars receive annual awards that range from $5,400 to $75,000 (four-year awards totaling an average of $21,600-$300,000). These generous financial packages cover the cost of tuition, books and supplies, room and board, and other educational expenditure.
  • The award also offers additional funds for enrichment activities such as study abroad programs, academic conferences, and leadership training. This program helps the recipients to sharpen their edges and develop themselves professionally.
  • Stamps Scholars become part of a close-knit community of fellow scholars, mentors, and alumni who support each other and share a commitment to making a positive impact on the world.

Stamps scholars application

Applying for a Stamps Scholarship is easy and straightforward. Stamps scholarships are awarded by the partner schools, not by the Foundation. Most partner colleges and universities in the program don’t require a separate application for the Stamps Scholarship.

In such schools, all you have to do is apply for admission. If you qualify, the college will automatically consider you for a Stamps award. Other schools require a separate application. The amount of awards, eligibility criteria, application process, application deadline, and award process varies from school to school.

We strongly recommend that you please check with the schools in which you are interested for more details on how to apply and what the benefits of the award are at that college or university. You also need to expect an interview (or two or three) to be part of the process and prepare for it accordingly.
